2011 KAZB Highlights
KAZB and Roosevelt Row Garden Receives $2500 Beautification Grant and Training
Keep America Beautiful affiliates were selected to receive "Power of Green" Technical Services Grants. The program, which is in its second year, is designed to provide in-kind technical expertise from Pennsylvania Horticulture Society staff, in addition to a monetary grant of $2,500, for beautification and community greening projects that improve public spaces. The Roosevelt Row vacant lot garden project will serve as a catalyst for overhauling dilapidated vacant lots into active and productive public spaces.
KAZB and Habitat Metro's Oasis on Grand/Lower Grand Receives $10,000 Beautification Grant
The Oasis on Grand/Lower Grand Avenue Beautification Project is a private/non-profit partnership between Keep Arizona Beautiful, the Carmody Companies, Habitat Metro, LLC, and the Grand Avenue Merchants Association. Keep America Beautiful and UPS selected KAZB's grant application and KAZB received $10,000 toward the development of this project.
The Project will deploy grant funds to provide pedestrian infrastructure and landscaping enhancements in public rights-of-way and publicly accessible common areas adjoining the Oasis on Grand affordable housing project. The Project seeks to align the efforts of KAZB with partners working within Phoenix, Arizona's lower Grand Avenue neighborhood to mitigate the cumulative impact of blight in the community while attracting new residents and business investment.
